During the mid-80s and early 90s Movin’ Records defined the New Jersey sound. A skate-shop-turned-record-store run by the so-called “fairy godmother of house” Abigail Adams, Movin’s first output was ‘I’ve Got The Music’ by Boyd Jarvis in 1987, followed by music from game changers Blaze, Kerri Chandler, Tony Humphries and Smack; straight up “Jersey jams” that producers are still attempting to replicate to this day. Still the Movin’ Records catalogue throws up gems that sound super fresh along with plenty of lightbulb moments of musical discovery.
‘Before The Storm’ was produced and written by dance legend Boyd Jarvis, a driving force in dance music since the early 80s. Partnering with New York DJ Timmy Regisford, Boyd produced and mixed many of the underground dance hits of the era. Sounding like a follow-up single to the early 80s hits from Visual – ‘The Music Got Me’ and ‘Somehow, Someway’, this release features remixes by New Jersey legend Kevin Hedge as Blaze and famed radio DJ Tony Humphries. This package also features two never-before-released dub mixes from Humphries and Jarvis himself.
